Dystopia of the human mind? Aristotelic cardinal virtues; prudence, justice, temperance and courage have been forgotten in this parallel reality. Society recognizes a new belief system called The Dark Triad.  It consists of three principles; Narcissism, Machiavellianism and Psychopathy.

”I truly enjoyed the fabulous Dark Triad performance by the Mamia Company. The choreography presented an accurate, funny, and sarcastic view of the adverse personality traits of Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy. The characters were realistic, and it was obvious that the performance was based on solid research into the psychology of these personalities. The performance is suitable for anybody who is interested in the darker side of human nature”.

DORIAN solo

Dorian is choreographer Nina Mamia`s solo about narcissism. It is sequence of movement in dance and vivid corporal expression.  We become the eye-wittnesses into the birth, life and death of a true narcissist. The sequences flow seamless like the predictable thought patterns of someone with unpredictable feelings. Each sequence has a motive but as our motives reveal themselves, we conceil them with endless stories only to distract everyone away from our narcissist self. Unpredictability, knowingly, is brought to conflict with improvisation, obsessive fantasy, domimation, love and violation.

SMILE  monologue

Inspired by Smile at The End of The Ladder by Henry Miller, Smile, is a monologue of independent ‘I’s exposed through the mind of common man and artist. In a projection of dualistic parallels spoken out loud, we assume one to be dominant over the other while the other the original. Are they born of each other or have they been born independently? The non-dual becomes a resolution to ontology that relates to humor, namely, a smile. When faced with conflict we look for means to gaining resolution. And at times we find a spot, even if infinitely small, a speck of hope. This is when we smile.

”  No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction; a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the the others. ”

– Martha Graham –
